Welcome to the world of fresh water wreck diving!

You've certainly picked the right spot!

The Straits of Mackinac is one of the best locations in the world to explore lost ships. Dive sites range from wooden schooners & barges to a 588 foot steel freighter, the Cedarville. All skill levels of diving are available. Straits Scuba Center is the only dive center dedicated exclusively to diving in the Straits of Mackinac.

The Rec Diver is a modern, 42 foot trawler style boat with a full displacement hull designed expressly for Great Lakes use. It is diesel powered, steel hulled and has been specially modified for sport diving. This configuration yields a stable ride in rough water and a roomier diving platform than conventional pleasure boats converted to diving use.

The unique features of the Rec Diver are:

  • Spacious rear deck area with benches
  • Individual storage on deck
  • Dry storage for cameras, clothing and other equipment inside the cabins
  • Exceptionally large platform
  • Ladder extending across the entire stern for easy ingress and egress
  • Two heated interior cabins, both with 6' of headroom, with private head, benches and bunks
  • Easy accomodation of doubles

Air fills:

Unlike other dive charters, we operate the only commercial air compressor in the Straits area. It is available on a priority basis to our customers.
